Summer is here! We know that many of you are looking forward to seasonal activities. Our canine companions also enjoy summertime. In fact, your pooch may have a few things on his own agenda! Read on as a Los Gatos, CA vet discusses Fido’s summer plans.
Man’s Best Friend definitely has a healthy sense of adventure. Fido loves going to parks and exploring new trails. Sniffing strange patches of grass is also pretty high on your cute pet’s agenda. Indulge your furry buddy’s adventurous streak, and take him somewhere new this summer.
If your four-legged friend loves swimming, he may enjoy spending time at the pool or shore. Of course, not all dogs are good swimmers. Even if Fido isn’t well-suited for deep water, he can still have fun splashing around in kiddie pools or playing in the spray from a hose.
Fido is playful and energetic, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t appreciate a good nap. At some point this year, you’ll probably notice your pooch contentedly snoring in a sunbeam, and looking absolutely adorable. Take a cue from your furry pal, and enjoy some down time yourself!
There are few things that make us smile more than watching a frisky pup hard at play. Fido has a special exuberance when he’s happily bounding after a rope or stick. Take time to play with your furry friend each evening. This will be fun for both of you!
It’s always nice to enjoy a cool treat on a scorching summer day. Get your canine pal’s cute tail thumping by offering him his own cold snack. You can find doggy ice cream in many pet stores and supermarkets. Or, make Fido some pupsicles by pouring water or sodium free broth over crushed-up doggy treats, bits of kibble, or shredded meat. Freeze overnight, and offer your pup small portions on hot days. (Tip: use an ice cube tray, waxed paper cups, or pet freezer molds to divide into individual servings.)
Fido is absolutely adorable when he wants to snuggle. Spend some quality time with your canine friend this summer, and offer lots of ear scritches and belly rubs. Time spent with dogs is never wasted!
