Love Your Pet Day

February 15, 2019

February 20th is Love Your Pet Day! Of course, we think every day is Love Your Pet Day. Our animal companions deserve to feel loved and safe all the time! However, this is a great time to score some extra purrs and tail wags. A local San Jose, CA vet offers tips on pampering your pet in this article.

Cats have a reputation for being finicky, but that isn’t really warranted. Fluffy is actually quite easy to please! Soft beds, fun toys, some cat furniture, or a bit of catnip would all make great gifts for your feline buddy, and will get her motor going. You can also get your furball a comfy window seat, or perhaps a new bed. Treats are another good option. Your kitty can have some sodium-free broth; plain, canned tuna or chicken in water; or perhaps some shredded deli meat.

Nothing gets Fido’s tail going like the thought of a yummy snack! Offer your pup a special treat. A plain cheeseburger without the bun is fine. You can also give your canine pal a small amount of bacon or sausage, or some shredded deli meat. Fido may also enjoy a new toy, or perhaps a comfy new bed. A fun play session will brighten up your four-legged friend’s day. You can also your dog for a long walk, or indulge him in a fun trip to the park. When you get home, dole out lots of belly rubs and ear scritches!

Pocket Pets

Smaller animals need love, too! If you have a rabbit, gerbil, Guinea pig, hamster, or another pocket pet, offer your pint-sized pal a new chew toy. A bigger, better cage is another good option. Treats will make your tiny furball happy as well. Just be sure to offer safe, suitable snacks. These little guys all have their own unique nutritional needs, so ask your vet for specific advice.

All Pets

No matter what kind of pet you have, spend some quality time with your four-legged buddy, and pay lots of attention to them. Our animal pals are always happiest when they feel loved and safe! This is also a wonderful time to snap a cute photo of your furry best friend.
