New Year’s Resolutions Inspired By Dogs

January 01, 2019

Happy New Year! As we leave 2018 behind and move forward into 2019, many people are focusing on their goals for the new year. As it turns out, Fido can be great inspiration for this! Here, a Los Gatos, CA vet lists some resolutions inspired by Man’s Best Friend.

Get Lots of Sleep

Did you know that dogs spend about half of their time napping? You probably don’t need quite that much rest, but it is important to be sure you are getting enough sleep.

Stay Active

Exercising regularly is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Fido can make a great workout buddy! Take a cue from your four-legged friend, and have fun with your workouts. You’ll be much more likely to stick with an exercise regime if you’re doing something you like.

Eat Well

Fido may be a bit too enthusiastic about this one. Actually, our furry pals will eat pretty much anything and everything. Focus on quality over quantity: eat good, nutritious food, and offer your pooch a premium dog food. Treats are fine, but don’t go overboard.

Keep Up With Wellness Care

Healthcare is important for both you and Fido. Keep up with basic wellness care, and take your pooch to the vet regularly. If you develop any symptoms of illness—or notice any in your dog—have them checked out right away.

Spend Time With Your Loved Ones

Dogs are extremely loving and loyal, and really want nothing more than to spend time with their human pals. Given the option, Fido would love to hang out with you all day, every day. Unfortunately, we can’t spend all our time offering our canine companions belly rubs and tossing Frisbees for them. That said, it is important to spend quality time with your friends, family, and, of course, your dog.

Get Outside

Does your canine friend ever pretend that he really, really, really needs a walk, only to nonchalantly start sniffing grass when you get him outdoors? You can’t blame Fido for wanting to get some fresh air and sunshine. Take a hint from your pup, and spend more time outside this year!
